Introductory Course 101: Stunning Truth about Personal Development

The ideas and lessons of personal development is a constant evolving process. Everyone who has dibbled-dabbled in teaching it may think their way is more effective than others. My thoughts on this are everything that has to do with personal development works. The key is knowing how the universal laws work, knowing what action steps to take to accomplish your goals and believing no matter what obstacle comes your way, it will not stop you from achieving whatever you desire.

Birthing the New You

When it comes to learning something new, we have to crawl before we walk. Then we learn to run. Our language skills improve during this process until we are ready for our beginning course-Learning to Create.

Laws of the Universe : Before we can learn any type of personal development we have to understand how we affect the world around us. NONE of the universal laws is something you should believe in. These laws are constantly working –no matter what you think. This is what I wrote about in, ‘Learn to Visualize What You Want and Set Your Intention to Manifest it’.

1 of 12 Universal Laws:

  • Law of Attraction 101:  The law of attraction is a metaphysical belief that, “like attracts like,” that positive and negative thinking bring about positive and negative physical results, respectively. According to the law of attraction, the phrase “I need more money,” will allow the subject to continue to, “need more money.” If the subject wants to change this they would focus their thoughts on the goal (having more money) rather than the problem of (needing more money). This might take them from the phrases such as, “I do have more money” or “I will have more money.” Leigh Edward wrote ,’ Since Money is No Subject’ would help you to understand this theory.

Once you understand how you affect the world around you-it’s time to correct personality flaws that hinders your growth.

We are our worst enemy:

  • Self-Limitations 101: There are thoughts, words and actions that we unknowingly do that repel our blessings and hinder our growth. Which is negative thoughts that produces self-sabotaging phrases, such as, “I can’t do it” or “this may not work” or “I’ll try” or “I’ll never be good at it.” These words: can’t, not, try and never are self-sabotaging, they will prevent you from taking action steps to achieve you goals.  Stacy Claflin wrote, ‘How to Stop Limiting Yourself In Order To Create Massive Success’. This post will help you to overcome this way of thinking.

Nothing will happen if you just sit there:

  • Action Steps 101: Get your walking shoes on. It is time to take action to achieve your goals. Learning how to use the universal laws and breaking bad habit of self-limiting beliefs is useless if you do not take action steps to complete the process of manifestation-meaning you cannot accomplish any goals just sitting there waiting for it to materialize in front of you. Get up and make it happen! Tisha Matthews will write a post on this topic :-)

Still having trouble moving:

  • Healthy Living 101: So…you’ve mastered the laws of the universe, concurred self-limiting beliefs and you are ready to take action steps to complete your goals. But, you have very little energy to do it or to work hard to get the best results. Do you know what this means? It means it’s time to get healthy. Through away your 5 Hour Energy-do not touch that Red Bull. All you have to do is replace all the unhealthy food you have in your kitchen with healthy food and start exercising at least 30 minutes a day. When you make it a good habit to eat healthy and stick to that exercise routine. You will feel more energetic in a few weeks.

If you have mastered all of these course. I would love for you to share some tips on anyone of them, but if you are new to this and you feel you need extra help, you can contact me or if you just want some tips you can sign up for my newsletter to receive monthly tips on personal development and blogging.

    Hi Tisha,

I really enjoyed this post, and thank you so much for the mention! :)

What a great point that we need to take the right steps to be ready for the next step. That’s a big reason that we may not resonate with what another person teaches in personal development. It could be that we aren’t ready for it, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not true.

    Thanks for sharing!

Hi Tisha, Personal development is an ongoing process and can affect all areas of life.

As for the Universal Laws.. I know this catch phrase can put people off as it sounds a little “lala’… but as you say, the ‘laws’ are there… they work whether you acknowledge them or not.

They are just common sense explanations to the way things are.

The law of attraction works whether you believe in it or not. You can’t avoid it. If you’re negative all the time, you’re going to attract it. If you are positive, you will attract it. No rocket science here.

As far as talking ourselves out of things and being our own worst enemy… how true is that.

However if we just ‘put our walking shoes on’ as you say and do it… with the right mindset… guess what? Amazing things happen.

Thanks Tisha. I have enjoyed your roll this week.

  4. Hi Tisha,
Great article!!! It is one of the few that really grasps the
    law of attraction
There is so much stuff out there misrepresenting it, people
are beginning to think its not real.
You also mentioned one of the most powerful tools we have, the
words we speak. We need to be conscious of every word we say, because
    it has power.

Healthy living is in all aspects and inspires to set our standards higher and stop settling for less

    Keep up the great work,

    Hi Trisha,

Yes, I also truly believe that our words and thoughts affect our circumstances (or at least the way we let circumstances affect us). Positive thinking is a far superior way to live and also helps the people around us (our loved ones) to be positive as well.

Conversely, as we have all heard before, hanging around with negative people does drag us down to the same level and is not beneficial to our lives.

Thanks for the 101 lesson on personal development and the law of attraction.

Hi Tisha, I most definitely my own worst enemy. However I learned from a young age that while that was true, so was the opposite.

If I was able to convince myself that I would fail, I generally did. However if I was able to convince myself I would succeed my chances increased dramatically.

    Hi Tisha,
First I would like to say that I love your photo..so much energy and joy. Having this kind of people as friends means to become the same.
I enjoyed reading your post. Law of attraction works..not like in Alladin cartoon but only if we use it. Obviously when you have healthy positive habits they will grow in a very short time.
Agree with the subject of money. Instead of “I need” better we say “Thanks for having more money” or the powerful “I am”.
When you take action you model energy on a massive scale..if a thought needs more time to crystalize, action instantly produces a result. So let’s take a positive actions. That will only generate a wheel of positive results and thought patterns.

Thanks for explaining the law so clearly :)
    Have a sensational day,

    Hi!

Personal development should be the aim of each and every individual. Development is a continual process. I have read about the law of attraction in the book “The Secret” and I feel that our thoughts predict our future. It is impossible to control every thought but as soon as a negative thought enters our mind we must get alert and replace it with a positive thought. Thanks for a helpful post.

    Hey Tisha,

PD 101 at its best! I L-O-V-E this post! And, many, many thanks for mentioning me here.

You know how much I believe, live and breathe these principles. Whatever we radiate outward in our thoughts, feelings, mental pictures, words, and actions are what we attract, like a boomerang, back into our lives.

The Law of Attraction is always in action! Don’t believe it, take a candid look at your life and see, really see what is reflected back at you.

    Trisha,
I am so delighted to find someone else who writes on the Universal Laws! I recommend Raymond Holliwell’s book “Working With The Law” if you haven’t come across it already, which was written during the 1960′s but is still available on Amazon. I’ve had my copy for years and still study it.

I particularly like your phrase “understand how you affect the world around you”. Many people feel powerless; aligning with these principles shows us how very powerful we are!

    Hi Lynn,

I just love your response! And, thanks for recommending this book. Many of us were taught that we can pray our way to change, but prayers, affirmations or meditations will mean nothing if we don’t hold ourselves accountable for our own actions. Only we can change ourselves. Divine help is just an extra boost of encouragement to make that change. I am definitely putting that book on my must read list.:-)
